The Father of Origami

Through my research, I came upon some information about Akira Yoshizawa or "The Father of Origami". He lived from March 14, 1911 - March 14, 2005.   In his early 20s, he worked at a factory as a technician.  He was responsible for teaching new employees geometry and to do this he used origami.  He decided to use origami because he had learned it as a child.  He thought it made geometry easier to understand. This was one of his practical ways to use origami.

Akira Yoshizawa was the inventor of the wet-folding technique.  Wet-folding is the technique that involves dampening the paper, and it allows the paper to be manipulated more easily before making a fold.  It is useful on models that need a more realistic appearance.  

Akira Yoshizawa's lifetime goal was to use origami to create all of the animals in the world.
